SAS Comtal
Wholesaler (in the west of France)
Comtal is a family business, created in 1980 by Jacques Bontemps, who at it’s creation, had just one truck to go and collect the Comté and Emmental which he would then distribute to wholesalers and retailers.
In 1996, his son Eric took over the business and created new premises according to European regulations in the artisan zone of the forest of Le Bignon. Preserving the practice of traditional distribution, they created a cutting room and packing room to wrap cheese in individual portions, to be sold in shops.
Today, Comtal has 14 staff and a turnover of 4.5 million Euros. Their clientele is made up mostly of retailers, wholesalers, and caterers, in Brittany, the Pays de Loire, and the Vendée.
Their range expanded with the development of raw milk specialities made from cow, goat and ewe’s milk.
